CIAA files corruption case against 32 people, including former Minister Jeevan Shahi

KATHMANDU: The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has filed a corruption case against 32 people allegedly involved in the procurement of two wide-body aircraft for Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC) in the past.

The case, lodged at the Special Court, seeks compensation of Rs 1.47 billion.

Those implicated in the case include former Minister for Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation, Jeevan Bahadur Shahi, NAC’s former Managing Director NAC, Sugat Ratna Kansakar, former Secretaries Shankar Adhikari and Shishir Kumar Dhungana, along with Joint Secretary Buddhi Sagar Lamichhane.

Additionally, Tek Nath Acharya, Nima Nuru Sherpa, Muktiram Pandey, Jeevan Sitaula, Achyut Raj Pahadi, along with six foreign nationals, have also been named as defendants.
