23 referred for further treatment from free health camps for displaced squatters



KATHMANDU: The Ministry of Health and Population has referred 23 individuals for further treatment following free health camps organized for displaced squatters living in temporary shelters.

According to the ministry, 17 individuals from a camp at Radha Satsang in Kirtipur were referred to Bir Hospital, while six children were sent to Kanti Children’s Hospital for additional care.

The health camps were conducted in Kirtipur and Tripureshwor targeting individuals relocated under the squatter management program. A total of 82 people received services during the one-day camp in Kirtipur. Of them, 42 underwent general health check-ups, 20 received eye examinations, 20 dental services, and 14 children were provided pediatric care.

The ministry said 46 individuals were also provided free medicines, while some received psychosocial counselling.

Similarly, on the first day of a three-day health camp at Dasharath Stadium in Tripureshwor, 140 individuals received services. Among them were 101 women and 39 men, including 45 senior citizens and five children.

Doctors reported that common health issues among patients included high blood pressure, diabetes, gastritis, diarrhea, chronic respiratory problems, infections, and injuries.

Senior officials from the ministry also conducted on-site monitoring of both camps, the ministry added.
