Unified Socialist directs its ministers to resign from post

KATHMANDU: The CPN-Unified Socialist, led by Madhav Nepal, has directed its ministers to step down from their respective ministries.

During a press briefing, spokesperson Ganga Lal Tuladhar revealed that the Secretariat meeting, held in Kathmandu on Monday, instructed the ministers to formally resign from their offices.

“While Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ did not explicitly mention any change, it was learned that the new ministers took their oaths at 5 PM. Hence, the Secretariat directed its ministers to vacate their positions in the ministries,” he stated.

Tuladhar claimed that the Prime Minister did not provide information about the latest political developments to his party.

The government includes three ministers from the Unified Socialist: Dr. Beduram Bhusal, serving as the Minister of Agriculture and Poultry Development; Dr. Prakash Jwala, the Minister of Physical Planning and Construction, both affiliated with the Unified Socialist Party; and Nanda Chapai, the State Minister for Physical Planning.

Bhusal is also a member of the National Assembly, while Jwala is a member of the House of Representatives. They joined the coalition government on March 31, 2023, three months after Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ assumed the role of Prime Minister.
