In a visual journey through Damauli, members of the Gurung community marked the occasion with exuberant cultural rallies, feasts, and traditional programs, showcasing the essence of Tamu Lhosar.

Tamu Lhosar, a significant cultural event, is deeply rooted in the Gurung heritage. In the Gurung language, ‘Lho’ signifies year or age, while ‘Sar’ denotes change. The festival holds cultural and symbolic importance, and its celebration is marked by a sense of unity and community spirit.

The festivities are intertwined with the symbolism of the sun’s rays, particularly significant in the geography of Gurung settlements such as Lamjung, Gorkha, Tanahun, Syangja, Manang, Kaski, and Parbat.

As Tamu Lhosar unfolds on the 15th day of the Nepali month of Poush, capturing the first light of the sun, a cultural rally in Damauli epitomized the vibrant celebrations. Participants showcased the richness of Gurung traditions, creating a visual spectacle that encapsulates the spirit of Tamu Lhosar.
