NEA plants over 100,000 plant saplings on its 38th anniversary



KATHMANDU: The Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) today planted saplings of fruits and other plants in various parts of the country on the occasion of its 38th anniversary.

Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Shakti Bahadur Basnet, also chairperson of the NEA Board of Directors, inaugurated the occasion by planting a sapling of Asian pear in the NEA office premises in Kathmandu.

On the occasion, the ministry secretary and member of the NEA Board of Directors Kumar Ghimire, the NEA executive director Kulman Ghising and employees also planted fruit saplings.

In the event, the minister, and the ministry secretary directed the concerned authorities to protect the planted saplings.

Similarly, NEA executive director Ghising said tree saplings would be planted in the watershed areas of hydropower projects across the country in the days to come.

On the occasion, the NEA offices across the country planted more than 100,000 saplings of various fruits and other plants.
