KATHMANDU: Ministry of Home Affairs has clarified that it has not instructed the police to take any action against Nepali Congress leaders Dr. Arju Rana Deuba and Krishna Prasad Sitaula.

Issuing a press statement on Monday, the spokesman of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Kedarnath Sharma, stated that the Ministry has not instructed to arrest NC leaders Rana and Deuba on the case of Fake Bhutanese Refugees.

“We would like to inform that Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Narayan Kaji Shrestha has given no instruction against any individual, and any news that has been broadcast in the media has to be dealt with as misleading, far-fetched and false,” the statement said, adding, “We would like to request all to cooperate at the Ministry’s attempts to curb corruption.”

Earlier there had been rumors that Home Minister Shrestha had directed officials to arrest NC leaders duo Rana and Sitaula for their alleged role in the Fake Bhutanese Refugee scam.
