JSP Statute Convention: Panel discussions begin, closed session to continue till Wednesday



KATHMANDU: The Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP) Nepal has commenced panel discussions on the proposed draft of the party statute during the Statute Convention that began on Sunday.

Purna Basnet, the chief of the party’s central publicity department, has stated that the discussions primarily focus on the draft presented by party Chair Upendra Yadav on Sunday.

Ten panels have been established to deliberate on the draft, and the event is attended by 746 representatives from different parts of the country.

The draft includes proposals such as the implementation of a directly elected presidential system, the formation of a 151-member central working committee comprising 13 office bearers, the nomination of central members (excluding office bearers) with a 30:70 ratio (30 from the open category and 70 based on proportional representation), a requirement for at least 40 percent youth participation, a maximum age limit of 70 for holding elected or nominated positions in the central, provincial, national, and district committees, and a limitation of serving the same position for a maximum of two terms.

The closed session of the convention will continue till tomorrow.
