CHITWAN: The bodies of 64 people swept away by Wednesday’s floods in Rasuwa have been recovered from the Trishuli and Narayani rivers.
The recovered remains include both intact bodies and body parts. The bodies have been kept at the morgue of Bharatpur Hospital, Chitwan Chief Superintendent of Police Rameshwor Poudel said at the District Police Office.
According to Poudel, nine bodies recovered in Tanahun were sent to Chitwan but were later returned to Tanahun due to a lack of space at the morgue.
All three security agencies in the district have started searching for bodies along the riverbanks.
Poudel said preparations have been made to manage additional recovered bodies at the office of an industrial establishment, as the morgue at Bharatpur Hospital has run out of space.
