KATHMANDU: The Kathmandu District Court has scheduled to take the statement of the accused in Fake Bhutanese Refugees scam from today.
The court statements of those who were arrested since March 27th on charges of making fake Bhutanese refugees and sending them to America starts from Friday, an official at the court revealed.
Former Deputy Prime Minister Top Bahadur Rayamajhi, former Home Minister Balkrishna Khand, suspended Secretary Tek Narayan Pandey, the then Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa’s security advisor Indrajit Rai, Nepali Congress leader Keshav Dulal, Sanu Bhandari, Sandesh Sharma, and others are arrested.
Last Monday, the police completed their investigation and submitted a report, on Wednesday, to the public prosecutor’s office, after which the public prosecutor’s office registered a case in Kathmandu district court demanding more than 280 million rupees.
According to Associate Attorney Achyutmani Neupane of the District Public Prosecutor’s Office Kathmandu, it will take about two weeks for the statement of the accused in the fake Bhutanese refugee case.
