SC to deliver verdict in contempt of court case against PM Dahal on December 14



KATHMANDU: The hearing of the contempt of court case against Prime Minister and CPN-Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has concluded and the final verdict in the case is scheduled for December 14.

The Supreme Court has fixed the date of the judgment after hearing the arguments of the petitioner and the lawyer of the opponent Dahal on Sunday.

According to Govinda Prasad Ghimire, information officer of the Supreme Court, the bench of Justices Ishwar Prasad Khatiwada and Kumar Regmi decided the date to pronounce the order after hearing the arguments. Ghimire informed that the date of hearing the order on the writ against Dahal has been fixed on December 14.

Senior advocate Dinesh Tripathi filed a writ saying that Dahal was in contempt of court. Tripathi filed a writ in the Supreme Court on May 12, 2016, saying that Dahal’s expression was contempt of court.

Chairman of the Maoist Center Dahal had expressed that there was a conspiracy against him in May 2016. He criticized the court for reviving the war-time cases against the Maoists.
