Resolving citizens’ dissatisfaction a must for strengthening system: Gagan Thapa

CHITWAN: Nepali Congress (NC) General Secretary Gagan Thapa emphasized the imperative need for the government and political parties to address the growing dissatisfaction among the populace.

Speaking to journalists in Chitwan on Wednesday, he highlighted the significance of mitigating public discontent, stating that reducing dissatisfaction would weaken the voices critical of the existing system.

“Dissatisfaction among the people is on the rise, and it has been harnessed by those with ill intentions to perpetuate their agendas. As public discontent diminishes, the influence of those fostering negativity naturally diminishes,” Thapa expressed, underlining the citizens’ right in a republic to voice opinions about the system’s shortcomings.

He stressed the importance of exercising these rights within the boundaries set by the prevailing laws. Thapa also disclosed that the Prime Minister has initiated consultations with various political parties to address the country’s economic challenges. These discussions commenced on Tuesday and are expected to conclude soon.

Thapa advocated for a protective role of the government towards businesses facing loan-related issues, emphasizing the need for prudent utilization of loans. He noted that the government should not intervene where loans are misused but should act as a guiding force for businesses utilizing loans appropriately.

Furthermore, Thapa assured that the NC would extend support and collaboration to the government’s ongoing initiatives and processes.
