KATHMANDU: In a meeting of the National Assembly (NA) today, lawmakers drew the government’s attention to various contemporary political and social issues.

Airing their views in a zero hour of the session, they said “Society is turning unsafe for daughters as they are getting subjected to human traffickers.” They demand the government come up with prompt and effective measures to ensure a safe and livable society for daughters.

According to Anita Devkota, the nation is becoming the hub of human traffickers, posing a grave threat to women and girls.

Khimlal Devkota urged the government to promptly bring a schedule for reforms in the Tribhuvan University and to intervene in the human and dozer encroachment around the Fewa Lake area in Kaski.

Dil Kumari Rawal Thapa demanded the government implement strategic plans targeting the health sector and control the supplies of tobacco products while Nanda Chapai expressed concerns over the issues of citizenship and landless people in the nation, urging the government to resolve them with much priority.

Bimala Rai Paudyal stressed the need of ensuring the citizen’s right to freedom of expression while Singha Bahadur Bishwokarma drew the government’s attention to the report from Siraha that one local representative allegedly discriminated against Dalit, demanding the government investigate the case and take action if the representative was found guilty.
