PM Dahal “committed” to developing science and technology



KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has said that Nepal’s development is not possible without the development in science and technology.

He underscored on the need of developing science and technology during discussions with Mahabir Pun, the Chief of the National Innovation Centre, at the Prime Minister’s official residence in Baluwatar today.

“Nepal cannot develop without promoting scientific innovation. The present age is the age of science and technology. Whoever invests in this sector lasts and who does not, falls behind,” the PM said on the significance of the development of science and technology even for the country’s existence.

Stating that his attention has been drawn on the need of the State making adequate investment in the science and technology sector, he stressed on the need of moving ahead resolving the problems seen in the implementation of existing Acts and laws.

A delegation under the leadership of Centre chief Pun on the occasion informed the Prime Minister of the role the organisation is playing in the science and technology sector for the country’s development.

Sharing his experience that Nepal could be made self-reliant in agriculture, education, health, energy and tourism, among the various sectors by means of innovation, Pun stressed on the need of the State to accord special priority to this sector.
