Private sector to cooperate to utilize potentials of electric power: FNCCI President Dhakal



KATHMANDU: President of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) Chandra Prasad Dhakal said the private sector would cooperate to tap the abundance potential of electric power.

There has been a vast array of the potential for electric energy in the country, he said, adding investment climate has also witnessed an improvement of late.

He urged hydropower investors to increase their investment.

There have been many potentials for energy production including hydropower.

“The government facilitates investment through its policies and priorities. We have the world’s big economies as our neighbors. Bringing investments to Nepal to address increasing demand and market has a big scope,” he said.

The private sector, he said, is ready to facilitate and cooperate with the government in this regard.

Stating that Nepal exported hydropower worth Rs 11 billion to India last year, he informed that the government was in talks with Bangladesh to export energy.

He also asked the government and other stakeholders to facilitate and enable an environment conducive to investments.
