NC to register for NA election; Deuba entrusted with ticket distribution responsibility

KATHMANDU: The Nepali Congress (NC) has officially decided to register the party for the upcoming National Assembly election.

In a meeting held on Friday, the Central Work Execution Committee assigned the responsibility of party registration to Krishna Poudel, the chief secretary at the party headquarters.

Additionally, the task of distributing tickets for the election has been entrusted to the party’s President, Sher Bahadur Deuba.

Today marks the deadline set by the Election Commission for registration. The National Assembly election is scheduled for January 25 next month.

Meanwhile, the Mahasamiti committee meeting of the Nepali Congress, initially slated for January 1-4, 2024, has been rescheduled. According to NC leader Bimalendra Nidhi, the decision to this effect was made during Friday’ Central Work Performance Committee meeting. Originally scheduled for January next year, the Mahasamiti meeting was deferred to avoid coinciding with the National Assembly elections.

Leader Nidhi highlighted the strategic move, considering the simultaneous occurrence of the two crucial events.

In addition to the rescheduling, the meeting resolved to officially register the party with the Election Commission in preparation for the upcoming National Assembly elections.
