PM Dahal acknowledges KMC’s ‘inspiring work’



KATHMANDU: Prime Minister (PM) Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ expressed the government’s dedication to enhancing financial transfers through policy reforms, reinforcing the local level’s foundation.

Speaking at the 29th Kathmandu Metropolitan Day event held in Kathmandu on Friday, he outlined the commitment to empower local governments with resources, aligning with the constitution’s spirit and local government recognition.

PM Dahal emphasized the constitution’s three-tier government structure, emphasizing cooperation, coexistence, and coordination.

He identified lawmaking as a top priority to fortify the federal democratic republic, stating, “The creation and systematic implementation of federal laws are essential to strengthen and optimize the federal system for the people’s benefit.”

Acknowledging Kathmandu’s global significance as both the capital and one of the world’s oldest cultural cities, Dahal praised its unique characteristics, making it an open museum known internationally.

He lauded Kathmandu Metropolis’s recent accomplishments in urban beauty, education, public toilets, and cultural heritage protection, citing positive motivation for the federal government.

The Prime Minister commended the metropolis’s initiatives in regulation, scholarship, job creation, and combating substance abuse, expressing gratitude to the metropolitan family.

He encouraged continued progress, applauding their efforts to develop a clean, green, vibrant, and historically rich capital city.

Highlighting Kathmandu Metropolis’s role in cultivating a modern city while preserving cultural splendor, PM Dahal extended best wishes for Metropolis Day.

He urged collective cooperation to achieve the shared goal of building a developed Kathmandu under the federal government system, rooted in a culture of cooperation.

He recalled that in 2052 BS, Kathmandu municipality was declared the country’s first metropolis.
