PATAN, LALITPUR: Deputy Speaker Indira Ranamagar emphasized that solely relying on legal measures won’t suffice to combat violence against women (VAW); altering societal mindsets is equally crucial.

During the ‘Policy and Institutional Structural Analysis’ National Conference on Gender-based Violence, the Deputy Speaker stressed the importance of effectively implementing laws aimed at curbing VAW.

She highlighted the persistent societal violence and emphasized the necessity of altering perspectives and behaviors to eradicate such violence.

Moreover, she emphasized the need for robust legislation to uphold children’s rights. Ranamagar underscored the prevalent challenges faced by women across various sectors and stressed the imperative to address violence against women within households.

Highlighting that towering buildings don’t define development, Ranamagar urged for greater access to digital technology for women, fair valuation of their products, and increased state investment in enhancing their capacities.

Sarita Ghimire, Chair of the National Campaign for Women’s Rights, noted the participation of women representatives from 42 districts in the event.
