Journalist Kishor Shrestha arrested over alleged privacy violation



KATHMANDU: Journalist Kishor Shrestha was arrested on Wednesday night near his residence in Lalitpur.

According to SSP Santosh Khadka of the Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office, Shrestha was arrested on charges related to the alleged violation of personal privacy.

Shrestha was arrested by a joint team from the Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office and the Kathmandu District Police Range after the latter obtained an arrest warrant from the court.

Shrestha is the publisher and editor of Jana Aastha Weekly and Janaaastha.com. He has also served as the acting chairperson of the Press Council Nepal.

Police said further investigation would be carried out into the allegations against Shrestha following his arrest.

According to police, an investigation is underway into a complaint filed against him over alleged violation of personal privacy and related matters.
