KATHMANDU: At least 25 people have died and 18 others injured in monsoon-induced floods and landslides in various parts of the country.

According to the Home Ministry, 25 people have so far died in monsoon-induced floods and landslides.

Since the onset of the monsoon in Nepal on June 14, the country has experienced severe floods and landslides, resulting in numerous casualties and significant damage.

According to the Disaster Preparedness and Response Branch, 25 people have gone missing and 18 people have been injured in these incidents.

The impact of floods and landslides has been devastating, with 83 houses completely damaged and 119 houses partially damaged.

Among the affected regions, Sankhuwasabha has suffered the most, with three fatalities and 19 people still missing in the district.

Panchthar has also witnessed three deaths and three missing persons. In Okhaldhunga district, a tragic landslide claimed the lives of four members of a single family.

The Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority has estimated that floods and landslides will affect a significant population this year, with approximately 1,254,000 people at risk.

Madhesh Province is projected to be the most severely affected, followed by Koshi Province.

Immediate and comprehensive disaster management measures are crucial to mitigate the potential impact on vulnerable communities in these regions.
