CHITWAN: Home Minister Narayan Kaji Shrestha asserted that the Federal Government was committed to coordinating with the state and local governments to fulfill the responsibilities given by the Constitution.

Talking to reporters in Chitwan on Monday, Home Minister Shrestha said that the local bodies should approach the Federal Government in a procedural manner.

Balen Shah, Kathmandu Metropolitan City Mayor, on Monday morning accused the Federal Government of not coordinating with the local government.

“I personally do not want to make any comments about the Mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City. But the point is that the Federal Government is committed to supporting fulfilling the responsibilities given by the Constitution by coordinating with the state government and local governments,” Home Minister Shrestha said.

Home Minister Shrestha also said that it would not be appropriate to seek coordination by merely asking to use force.

“I have clearly told the concerned Authority that it has to justify the work it is trying to do,” Home Minister Shrestha said.
