KYIV: At least seven people died and 31 were injured after Russian missiles hit residential areas in the eastern Ukrainian city of Pokrovsk in the Donetsk region and in Kupiansk district.
Ukrainian Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko said on Monday that four civilians died in the first attack while a Donetsk emergency official was killed during a second attack.
Andriy Yermak, the head of Ukraine’s presidential administration, later reported two more victims of Russian strikes in Kruhliakivka village in Kupiansk district.
Videos and pictures released by Ukrainian officials showed people sifting through the rubble including a badly damaged five-story apartment building while an ambulance emergency team was on the scene treating the wounded.
