Morang administration bans gatherings, processions in Biratnagar



BIRATNAGAR: The District Administration Office, Morang, has issued a prohibition order for gatherings, processions, sit-ins and other activities in various areas of Biratnagar Metropolitan City from 3 pm on Wednesday.

Issuing a statement in Biratnagar on Wednesday, Chief District Officer (CDO) Tirtharaj Bhattarai stated that the prohibition orders have been issued from Devkota Chowk to Koshi Hospital Chowk, around the District Administration Office, around the Chief Minister’s residence and around the office of the Chief Minister and the Council of Ministers to prevent any activities that may disturb peace and order regarding the nomination of the province.

The CDO has prohibited holding meetings, processions, gatherings, rallies, sit-ins in the areas.

Bhattarai informed that the injunction will remain in force until further orders are issued.

Two proposals for the name of Province 1 have been registered in the Provincial Assembly today. UML has filed a proposal to keep the name Koshi. The Nepali Congress, which was earlier supportive of the UML’s proposal, has withdrawn its support.

CPN (Unified Socialist) and Janata Samajwadi have registered a proposal to name the province as Kirat Limbuwan Sagarmatha.
