Cholera cases confirmed in 9 places of Kathmandu

KATHMANDU: Cholera has been found in different places in Kathmandu Valley.

As many as 12 people in the Kathmandu Valley are confirmed to have contracted cholera, according to the Ministry of Health and Population.

Cholera cases have been in Kathmandu’s Dilli Bazaar, Bagbazar, Thankot, Kapan, Budhanilkantha, Naikap, Balaju, Balkhu and Boharatar.

Likewise, cholera has also been found in Sanepa.

Director General at the Department of Health Services Dr. Dipendra Raman Singh shared this information in a meeting of the Education and Health Committee under the House of Representatives.

Of the infected, eight were discharged from the hospital after recovery, and four are still receiving treatment, he said.

The first cases of infectious disease in the Valley were reported on June 19.

According to the Ministry of Health, cholera bacteria have been found in water sources.

The Ministry has urged peple to be vigilant as cholera cases have been on the rise lately.

People in Balkhu and Koteshwar areas have also been diagnosed with cholera.
