Govt bans use of plastic bags thinner than 40 microns from August 14

KATHMANDU: The government has announced a ban on the use of plastic bags thinner than 40 microns.

The Department of Environment published a notice and from August 14, ban on production, import, sale, distribution and use of plastic bags thinner than 40 microns will be strictly enforced.

According to the Department, action will be taken in accordance with the Environmental Protection Act, 2076 BS and the Environmental Protection Regulations, 2077 BS if it is found that plastic bags thinner than 40 microns are being produced and sold against the government’s decision.
