Action to be taken against those throwing garbage haphazardly

KATHMANDU: Mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City, Balendra Shah, has warned of taking action against those throwing garbage haphazardly in Kathmandu Valley. Even those throwing solid waste in the night will be punished with the help of CCTV footage.

Speaking at a Valley-level crime investigation review seminar organized by Nepal Police here today, Mayor Shah said action would be taken against those throwing garbage in a haphazard manner in coordination with traffic police. This will be done soon after complete management of garbage of Kathmandu Valley.

He further said the KMC has made arrangement of budget for installation of CCTV camera in various parts of the Kathmandu Valley.

Nepal Police shared that there are now 5,000 CCTV cameras installed in the Kathmandu Valley where as 25,000 such cameras are required to make peace and security efficient and to control crime in the Valley.

Mayor Shah expressed the view that initiatives with the collaboration of Nepal Police have been taken to bring the buildings constructed in the valley to follow the map that was designed and passed from the concerned authorities.

Activities to remove the shops, business operated in the area constructed for parking are underway with collaboration of police, added KMC Mayor Shah. Illegal structures in Kathmandu Mall, RB Complex and Durbar Marg have been removed today.

The KMC is also learnt to have asked the District Court in Kathmandu to provide a copy of the approved house design. (RSS)
