KATHMANDU: The Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has urged Kathmanduites to separate the decomposable and non-decomposable garbage.
The Department of Environment and Agriculture of the KMC has published the information requesting mandatory classification from July 17.
According to the Environment and Natural Resources Protection Act, 2077 BS, a fine of Rs. 500 will be imposed on those not abiding by the rule.
As the responsibility of separating organic (decomposing) and inorganic (non-decomposable) garbage lies with the waste producers, the KMC has issued a public notice stating that it will collect only decomposing garbage on the day of collection and decomposable garbage on the next day.
