Parties submitting PR candidates’ list at EC today and tomorrow



KATHMANDU: The election process for the House of Representatives and the State Assembly scheduled for November 20 will begin today (Sunday).

Political parties will submit a closed list of candidates under the Proportional Representation (PR) election system, according to the Election Commission.

The parties have intensified efforts to finalize the final list today.

The parties will select 330 candidates including a maximum of 110 for the House of Representatives and a maximum of 220 for the Provincial Assembly.

According to the mixed electoral system, there will be a presence of 60 percent directly-elected and 40 percent PR lawmakers in the Federal Parliament and the State Assembly.

The 275-member House of Representatives will have 165 directly-elected lawmakers and 110 from the PR category.
