Alliance to save constitution, inclusive democracy: PM Deuba

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister and Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba said the November 20 elections to the House of Representatives and Provincial Assembly would determine the path Nepal would take.

NC President Deuba viewed it as the present need to protect the constitution achieved with much struggle.

“Country has got constitution with much rigor. It is inclusive and has ensured 33 percent participation of women in state mechanisms. Indigenous nationalities have also been guaranteed adequate rights,” PM Deuba said at a program.

The ruling alliance and the subsequent electoral alliance were formed with the aim of protecting constitution which has guaranteed rights to all classes and sectors, he reminded, adding that Nepali citizens have the right to change the government through the election.

He further recalled that the alliance saved the country from crisis after the UML Chairperson KP Sharma Oli arbitrarily dissolved the parliament twice.

“We protected democracy after the parliament was dissolved twice,” he stressed.

The only condition of alliance is to prosper democracy and ensure sustainable peace and rights to citizens.

The ruling alliance can last for 10 to 15 years, he believed. The PM assured that the locals who suffered while widening road would be compensated.
