NEA incurs a loss of over Rs 10 million as a person climbs a high-tension line in Nuwakot

Man rescued after 9 hours

KATHMANDU: The Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) incurred a loss of over Rs 10 million when the Upper Trishuli 3A was disrupted after a mentally ill person climbed the transmission line on Saturday.

According to Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) Spokesperson Suresh Bhattarai, the loss was over Rs 10 million due to the nine-hour power outage.

The NEA had to shut down its power projects and cut off the power supply to the Trishuli-Matatirtha transmission line for more than 8 hours.

NEA said that it would take some time to get the exact figures now.

Meanwhile, a Nepal Army (NA) chopper rescued the man walking on the high-tension extension line.

According to sources, Maila BK of Belkotgadhi-13, Ghale Gaon, Nuwakot has been rescued by a Nepal Army helicopter after 9 hours.

BK had climbed up the pole of the high tension line nearby after having a row with his family members. Refusing the police and the local’s request to climb down, he had been walking on the 64,000 volts transmission line.

His mental status is said to be unstable for a few days.
