Monsoon gradually spreading across country
This year’s monsoon system is gradually spreading across the country.
According to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, the monsoon system has entered four provinces so far — Province 1, Madhes, Bagmati and Gandaki.
The monsoon is expected to enter the rest of the provinces in a few days. This year’s monsoon had entered the eastern part of Nepal before the average date.
Cycle rally organized to raise public awareness about blood donation
Khabarhub, a news portal of Nepal, has organized a cycle rally in collaboration with Blood Donors Association, Nepal to raise public awareness about blood donation on Saturday morning.
The bicycle rally organized this morning started from Chamati Ropeway of Swayambhu and came to an end on the premises of Manamaiju Temple in Balaju.
A blood donation camp was also organized on the premises of Manmaiju Temple in Tarkeshwar municipality. Chairman of Kathmandu Metropolitan City-15 Ishwar Man Dangol was also present in the program.
NA rescues man walking on high tension line in Nuwakot
A Nepal Army (NA) chopper has rescued a man walking on the high-tension extension line in Nuwakot district on Saturday.
According to sources, Maila BK of Belkotgadhi-13, Ghale Gaon, Nuwakot has been rescued by a Nepal Army helicopter.
BK had climbed up the pole of the high tension line nearby after having a row with his family members. Refusing the police and the local’s request to climb down, he had been walking on the 64,000 volts transmission line. His mental status is said to unstable for few days.
Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) had shut down its power projects and cut off power supply to the Trishuli-Matatirtha transmission line for seven hours. NEA claimed that it had to bear Rs one million loss each hour due to the incident.
U-19 women’s cricket team arrive in Nepal
The Nepali cricket team have arrived in Nepal after participating in the ICC U-19 Women’s T20 World Cup Asian qualifiers.
The Nepali team that participated in the qualifier in Malaysia arrived in Nepal on Friday night. Officials of Nepal Cricket Association CAN welcomed the team at Tribhuvan International Airport.
Nepali migrant dies in Portugal
A Nepali, who was missing in Portugal for past two month, is found dead in the sea.
The body of Sujan Silwal, 30, of Belkotgadhi Municipality-12 in Nuwakot district was recovered in the sea, Chairman of Non-Resident Nepalis Association Portugal chapter Rabin Adhikari said, quoting local police authorities.
According to Adhikari, Silwal’s body was found on April 16, the next day he went missing, but his identity was revealed just on Thursday.
It is said that Silwal had drown in the sea at Paso De Arkos near Lisbon. Silwal’s body is kept in a hospital.
Health, education should be taken as a service: Mayor Shah
Mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City, Balendra Shah, has stressed on the need of providing health and education as a service, not a business.
Mayor Shah said so while inspecting the newly constructed building of Chhatrapati Free Clinic as well as monitoring the clinic’s services. He also directed the clinic to ensure the free treatment to helpless, poor people as well as those facing financial crunch.
Mayor Shah opined, “Education and Health are the government’s major agendas. So it should be provided as a service. We are ready to provide support when needed.”
Former President Yadav bats for Chure conservation
Former President Dr Ram Baran Yadav has said exploitation of Chure hill is taking place due to delay in completion of postal highway.
Receiving the honor handed over by Pitaji Krishna Prasad Koirala Memorial Council in Biratnagar on Saturday, Dr Yadav argued that Tarai, the breadbasket of the country, is in trouble due to over exploitation of Chure.
He viewed that both Mahabharat range and Tarai will be conserved from the conservation of Chure hill.
