Sandeep Lamichhane denies allegations against him

Says he will return to Nepal once the league is over

KATHMANDU: Nepali cricket national team captain Sandeep Lamichhane, accused of rape, has said that he is innocent, and would return to Nepal as soon as the Caribbean Premier League is over.

Sandeep, who is currently in the West Indies to play in the Caribbean Premier League, denied the allegations of rape in a conversation with the Nepal Cricket Association (CAN) officials.

Acting General Secretary Prashantha Bikram Malla said that they are in touch with Sandeep.

Malla said that Sandeep informed the CAN that he will return to Nepal after finishing the league and promised to help in the investigation.

“He said that he will return after the match,” said Malla.

Sandeep has also expressed the hope that CAN will facilitate the legal process in his favor.

Meanwhile, CAN decided not to take any immediate action against Sandeep.
