10-year-old boy dies after drowning in irrigation canal



BHADRAPUR: A 10-year-old boy has died after drowning in an irrigation canal in Buddhashanti Rural Municipality-6 of Jhapa.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Ranjan Awal of the District Police Office, Jhapa, said the deceased has been identified as the 10-year-old son of Buddhiman Limbu of Ainadare, Buddhashanti Rural Municipality-4.

According to police, the boy drowned in the Kaptan Jana Sangam irrigation canal near Timai Khola in Buddhashanti-6 at around 1:30 pm on Thursday.

After receiving information about the incident, a police team led by Police Assistant Inspector Gajendra Bahadur Katuwal from the Mangalbare Temporary Police Post reached the scene.

Police have completed the necessary legal procedures and sent the body to Provincial Hospital, Bhadrapur, for post-mortem examination. Further investigation into the incident is underway, police said.
