NHRC urges to bring effective measures on dengue control



KATHMANDU: The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has urged the government to come up with effective measures on dengue control.

NHRC Spokesperson Dr Tikaram Pokharel, in a statement, urged the federal, provincial and local level governments to take effective measures in preventing and controlling dengue outbreak.

The human rights constitutional body has said that its attention was drawn on the risks propping up due to dengue virus when the COVID pandemic was also prevailing in the country.

“Citizens lives are being threatened as there is lack of adequate attention of the authorities concerned for the control and prevention of dengue outbreak. The issue of ineffective coordination among the three tiers of the government to this effect was reported to the commission through media and other sources”, the statement noted.

Dengue outbreak has already claimed a life in the ongoing month of Bhadra (August-September) while thousands have been taken ill due to the virus in the recent days, the commission stated.
