Health Ministry suggests a ‘smart lockdown’ to contain increasing COVID-19

KATHMANDU: The Ministry of Health and Population has floated a proposal to impose a ‘smart lockdown’ saying that the cases of coronavirus are increasing in the country, of late.

The Health Ministry put for this proposal in a meeting of the COVID-19 Crisis Management Center (CCMC) chaired by Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba on Friday evening.

As per this proposal, the districts will now be categorized as red, ember, yellow and green depending on the status of COVID-19 cases.

According to sources, the next meeting of the CCMC will take a final decision on the ‘smart lockdown’.

The cases of COVID-19 are increasing in the country after the government relaxed the prohibitory order.

Meanwhile, the Health Ministry has warned of the third wave of COVID-19 after two to three months in the country.
