UML 10th National Congress: Voting for new leadership concludes



CHITWAN: Voting for the new leadership of the CPN-UML has been completed. The voting, which started on Tuesday morning, ended at 10:30 am.

The voting was conducted electronically at the convention site, Sauraha. Even though it was scheduled to begin on Monday night was delayed due to some technical reasons.

The voting has taken place in some clusters of UML chairperson, vice chairperson, secretary and central members today that began at 4 am.

UML leader Yogesh Bhattarai informed that 2,085 votes were cast in the election.

He informed that the results of the counting of votes will also come today.

According to Bhattarai, 68 out of 2,153 UML delegates did not participate in the election.

Party Chairman KP Sharma Oli and Bhim Rawal are competing for the post of party chair. Subash Chandra Nemwang, Ram Bahadur Thapa, Ghanshyam Bhusal, Asta Laxmi Shakya, Bishnu Poudel, Surendra Pandey and Yuvaraj Gyawali are vying for the post of vice-chairpersons.

Candidates for the chairmanship, KP Oli and Bhim Rawal have already cast their votes.

Similarly, Bishnu Poudel, Pradip Gyawali, Sher Bahadur Tamang and other leaders have already cast their votes.

After casting their ballots electronically, Oli said, “I found voting easy.”

The UML’s Congress will select a 301-member central committee with 19 office-bearers.
