SC stipulates timing for filing writs and holding hearings

KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court (SC) has fixed timing for filing writ petitions and hearing amid the prohibitory order enforced in the Valley Friday.

The SC set 11 am to 3 pm as the period to file writs related habeas corpus, public health and COVID-19 pandemic. Moreover, habeas corpus writs filed before 1 pm will be heard on the same day and hearing on writs filed after 1 pm will take place the following day, according to SC.

SC Deputy Registrar Raju Dhungana informed that hearings will take place in the presence of one representative from each of the petitioners, defendants and lawyers.

A meeting chaired by SC Chief Justice Cholendra Shumsher JBR and all other justices held on April 27 decided on the timings.
