Minister Jhankri sees need of passing on skills, knowledge

KATHMANDU: Minister for Urban Development Ram Kumari Jhakri has stressed the need for ancestors to pass on their skills and knowledge to the next generation.

The Minister said she was always in favor of the culture of handing over skills and knowledge acquired by one generation to another since she joined student politics.

Emphasizing that the government should build safe housing for citizens of all areas, the Minister said the Ministry was at work for the project. She was speaking at an event organized jointly here today by the United Nations Development Programme and Indian Embassy in Kathmandu.

The reconstruction of the private houses damaged in the 2015 earthquake has reached its final stage, she said.

Samples of engineered and non-engineered houses are put on a display at the program to check out their earthquake-resistant capacity.
