KATHMANDU: Turkey has banned flights and all direct travel from six countries, including Nepal, due to concerns over various strains of coronavirus.
Direct travel from Bangladesh, Brazil, South Africa, India, Nepal and Sri Lanka was, announced, prohibited from Monday.
However, passengers who will travel from these countries can still be allowed to travel to another country by using Turkey as Transit and Turkish Airlines flights from KTM will still operate as per the given schedule, according to Turkish Airlines Kathmandu office. The airline has been operating two weekly flights between Turkey and Kathmandu
People headed to Turkey from other countries but who had a stopover in the banned countries in the past 14 days will need to show a negative PCR test report conducted within 72 hours before entry and will need to quarantine for 14 days.
People entering Turkey from Pakistan and Afghanistan or who have been in these countries in the last 14 days will need to quarantine for 10 days after reaching there.
