Student Unions vandalize, arson Patan Multiple Campus

KATHMANDU: Student organizations have vandalized the Patan Multiple Campus and padlocked the office of the Campus Chief, saying the campus administration did not consult with them before publication of result of BSc CSIT entrance exam.

The All Nepal National Free Students’ Union (ANNFSU), All Nepal National Free Students’ Union (Revolutionary) and Nepal Students’ Union (NSU) have taken to demonstration after the campus administration made public the results of BSc CSIT entrance examination.

Campus Chief Laxman Kunwar informed that students had protested earlier (before the prohibitory order came into effect) when the campus published the result of entrance exam. The campus had made public the names of 80 students in two stages earlier for the BSc CSIT stream that has a quota of 96 students. The campus made public the names of the remaining 16 students on Sunday.

Student unions, issuing a joint statement Monday, have also put forth various demands to the campus administration for educational and infrastructural reforms.

The students’ demands include waiving the fees of all Bachelor level faculties for the period of coronavirus-induced lockdown last year, distributing last year’s scholarships, allowing students who missed fill up the examination forms to fill the form again and making the online class effective. They have also demanded that sections should be divided by keeping 40 students in each section and the campus install better Wi-Fi on the campus premises.
