Preparations to file no-confidence motion against Oli; horse-trading likely

KATHMANDU: Following the reinstatement of the House of Representatives (HoR) by the Supreme Court of Nepal, both factions of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) are engaged in wooing lawmakers to join their respective factions.

Both the factions are claiming a majority of lawmakers. The Prachanda-Nepal faction is making preparations to lodge a no-confidence motion against Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli in the house session to be held on March 7.

They have also prepared a list of their lawmakers as they have to present the majority while filing the no-confidence motion against Prime Minister Oli and floating the candidacy for the next prime minister.

Incumbent Prime Minister Oli has recently held a meeting with the lawmakers of its faction at Hotel Yak and Yeti in an effort to turn the tables in his favor.

Oli faction is making preparations to face the no-confidence motion to be filed against him in the parliament session by the Prachanda-Nepal faction.
