DAMAULI: The Veterinary Hospital and Animal Services Expert Center in Tanahun has provided production-based incentives to dairy farmers to encourage increased milk production.
The center distributed Rs 8.011 million in grants under its production-based incentive program in fiscal year 2082/83 BS. According to Rudrasingh Thakuri, an animal health technician at the center, the incentives were distributed to farmers through 13 dairy producer cooperatives in the district.
Under the program, farmers received an incentive of Rs 3 per liter for a total of 3,020,322 liters of milk collected through the cooperatives.
Thakuri said the production-based subsidy has encouraged farmers to engage in commercial livestock farming, as the incentive is linked directly to the volume of milk they produce.
He added that the program has motivated farmers to increase milk production and become more involved in dairy farming. In addition to income from milk sales, farmers receive an additional incentive based on their production, making livestock farming more attractive as a source of income.
