KATHMANDU: Transportation services on several major highways and road sections across the country have been disrupted by floods, landslides and ongoing construction work.
According to the Department of Roads, several road sections in Bagmati, Gandaki and Karnali provinces are either completely or partially blocked.
In Bagmati Province, the main highway in Rasuwa remains completely blocked due to flooding. The Tokha-Chhahare road section and the Pasang Lhamu Highway have also been obstructed. In Dhading, landslides along the Prithvi Highway in the Benighat Rorang area have disrupted traffic.
While some road sections remain completely closed, traffic is operating on a single-lane basis in others. At Tuinkhola along the Narayangadh-Mugling road in Chitwan, vehicles are being allowed to pass cautiously on a single lane, depending on road conditions.
In Gandaki Province, only small vehicles are currently allowed to operate on the Chame-Besisahar road section due to ongoing construction. Meanwhile, a section of the Karnali Corridor in Humla has been completely blocked by a landslide.
The Department of Roads said efforts are underway to clear the affected sections and restore normal traffic. However, as rainfall continues to pose a risk of further landslides and flooding, the department has urged travelers and drivers to check road conditions before setting out.
Authorities have also advised the public to exercise extreme caution, particularly when traveling through areas vulnerable to landslides and flooding.
