NEW DELHI: The Delhi government has declared malls, metros, movie theatres and religious places as “super spreader areas” amid a rise in coronavirus cases in India’s capital city.

The government has instructed district magistrates to increase surveillance in the areas, India Today has reported.

In its order to district magistrates, the Delhi government has said there has been a “persistent rise” in Covid-19 cases in the last fortnight, it said.

People, however, are not following Covid-19 guidelines.

The Delhi government has also asked the district magistrates to intensify surveillance and awareness campaigns at crowded places.

Delhi reported 1,101 Covid-19 cases on Tuesday, the highest in over three months, according to the report.
