KATHMANDU: The Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) has begun selecting delegates for the party’s central general convention from Monday.
The party’s central general convention is slated for December 1-3 in Kathmandu.
RPP leader Janak Pathak said the selection of general convention delegates for central general convention began from today as the party had fixed December 21-23 for the same.
Nine delegates will be elected from each of the state assembly constituencies in the RPP General Convention. Accordingly, nine general convention delegates are being elected from each state assembly, including three representatives from Khas Arya, three from women, one from Janajati, one from Dalit and one from the minority community. The total number of delegates elected in this way will be 2,970.
The party is selecting delegates directly from among the active members for the first time.
About 4,500 delegates will be selected for the RPP’s central general convention, said leader Pathak. He put the number of active members across the country at around 140,000.
Chairpersons of 753 local levels, 330 chairs of state assemblies, chairs of 165 federal constituencies, 77 chiars of districts and seven chairs from provinces will participate in the general convention. Fifteen delegates from abroad will also participate in the convention.
Similarly, the chairpersons of the party will also nominate a number of delegates to the General Convention.
