KATHMANDU: Police have arrested a man for allegedly writing offensive slogans targeting communities from the Terai-Madhesh region in public places in Kathmandu.
Police said the man was involved in activities aimed at disturbing social harmony and inciting conflict by writing offensive statements targeting the Madhesh community.
According to the District Police Range Kathmandu, 35-year-old Bishal Gurung was arrested during a search for a person allegedly involved in writing statements targeting the Madhesh community and phrases such as “inciting conflict” in public places on different dates.
A police team deployed from the District Police Range Kathmandu and New Baneshwor Police Circle arrested Gurung on Sunday. Gurung, originally from Baksila, Khotang, has been residing in Shankhamul, Kathmandu-31.
District Police Range Kathmandu spokesperson and information officer Dan Bahadur Thapa said further investigation into the case is underway at Baneshwor Police Circle under the offense related to disturbing public peace.
