KATHMANDU: A new track is being opened to connect Chame with Upper Manang since the roadway connecting Lower Manag with Upper Manang district has been disrupted due to landslide and flood on May 28 and June 15.

Manang Chief District Officer Bishnu Lamichhane shared that a new track is being opened to ensure connectivity in Manang that has been disconnected since the roadway was blocked. Road Division Office, Lamjung’s engineer Suman Adhikari said that a sloppy hill is being cut at Bhratang of Manag Disyang Rural Municipality in the district to open the track.

In absence of road connectivity since the disaster-induced damage to roads, locals here are facing problems for reaching the public offices and institutions such as health posts. Currently, drilling-related works have been forwarded at the site deemed suitable to open a new track.

The Nepali Army team will blast off the rocks on the sloppy hills and make a headway for constructing a track, according to engineer Adhikari. So far, 22-km of road under the 107-kilometer-Beshisahar-Chame has now been opened clearing the landslide debris. Debris would also be cleared off at Talekhu-Bhratang road section soon, informed Adhikari.
