Maoist Center outraged at the petition against it filed at EC

KATHMANDU: CPN-Maoist Center has gone alert at the petition filed at the Election Commission (EC) seeking the revocation of party registration.

Issuing a press statement on Friday, Maoist Center’s Office Secretary Shri Ram Dhakal criticized the petition filed at EC under the name of Saroj Buddhathoki of Kamalamai-10, Sindhuli as baseless, ill-intent and defaming to the party

“It came to our notice that a petition seeking our party’s revocation has been filed by a person who has neither any connection with our party nor has been literate enough about the Regulations related to the Political Parties,” the statement said, “The demand is ridiculous and objectionable and we urge all party cadres and well-wishers not to be confused by such attempts to defame the party.”

Some former Maoist Center leaders including Top Bahadur Rayamajhi, Prabhu Sah, and Manichandra Thapa, who had become Ministers under CPN-UML Chairman KP Oli’s premiership after Supreme Court’s March 7 verdict annulled erstwhile ruling Nepal Communist Party, had filed a petition at EC seeking their former party’s revocation.

The former Maoist Center leaders had been to EC on Friday afternoon to get EC’s update on their petition.
