One killed, two seriously injured in lightning strike in Sankhuwasabha



SANKHUWASABHA: One person was killed and two others were seriously injured after lightning struck during rainfall in Panchkhapan Municipality-8, Pokhrang, Sankhuwasabha, last night.

Umesh Dahal, 28, who was picking cardamoms at a cardamom processing centre in Pokhrang, died after being struck by lightning, said Police Inspector Dhan Bahadur Rajbanshi, information officer at the District Police Office.

Dahal was rushed to Panchkhapan Basic Hospital in Wana after the incident, where doctors declared him dead shortly after his admission, police said.

Two other people from the same locality, Pushpalal Katwal, 64, and Chhatra Bahadur Dahal, 62, were also seriously injured in the lightning strike. Both are receiving treatment at Panchkhapan Basic Hospital, police said.

A police team was dispatched to the incident site immediately after receiving information about the lightning strike.

The incident occurred approximately four kilometres east of the Bhartiwal Danda Police Station, according to police.
