PM seeks public support to avert imposing lockdown again

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Oli has said the country might be placed under lockdown again if coronavirus cases rise dramatically and sought everyone’s support to avert such a situation.

Speaking at the 70th general assembly of Nepal Chamber of Commerce Thursday, PM Oli said, “We do not have any plans to re-impose lockdown and are neither inclined to do so,” adding that, “However, if people neglect adhering to health safety protocols leading to a significant rise in the number of virus cases then we will be forced to enforce lockdown again.”

The PM urged all and sundry to strictly follow COVID-19 safety protocols to prevent the country from going into lockdown again.

He stressed on cleanliness and hygiene, intake of hot liquids (with turmeric), frequent handwashing and mandatory use of face masks when leaving home, among others.
