Biplav meets former Speaker Mahara

KATHMANDU: Former rebel leader and General Secretary of Nepal Communist Party Biplav group Netra Bikram Chand ‘Biplav’ has met former Speaker Krishna Bahadur Mahara on Sunday.

Biplav went to Mahara’s residence in Kathmandu for the meeting. Both Biplav and Mahara are former Maoist leaders.

Not seen in public for nearly three years after the government declared his outfit outlawed, Biplav had made himself public on Friday.

Biplav has intensified meetings with party leaders and former Maoists after formally joining the open politics.

Earlier, he had held a meeting with four fringe communist party leaders formed by former Maoists leaders including Mohan Baidya, Bishwo Bhakta Dulal, and Rishi Ram Kattel on Saturday.

Biplav had also met Home Minister Thapa on Saturday and requested to release his cadres in jail at the earliest.
